It’s been a fun “summer break”, but I’m excited to get this space back online!
During my time away from writing, I’ve been spending more time working. I’m talking about going home after work to eat dinner, then getting back to work after the baby goes to bed. It’s been a crazy busy time, but the weekly schedule of grinding on weekdays then chilling on weekends is starting to click with me.
That being said, I’m super busy all the time, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to ease back into writing about things I care about. I hope to post every other week at least. If you want to follow along with me, subscribe!
Introducing Espresso Tonic!

I’m excited to announce that this space is now Espresso Tonic! I wanted to get away from personal branding and build something that’s slightly more professional and formal.
It didn’t take long for me to come up with the name; I think it was the first idea. Espresso Tonics are my favorite summertime drink. It’s easy but can be dressed up, versatile yet evocative of a specific vibe.
I want this space to be synonymous with class and playfulness, and that’s what I want my writing to reflect going forward.
I want to say you’ll start to see changes in what topics I choose to write about, but we’ll see. I may still publish very personal and random thoughts about whatever I feel like.
What Writing Can You Expect From Espresso Tonic?
I have a lot of concepts floating around in my head right now. Most notably:
Dad gear
A multipart theology of play (This would be a really big project and I’m not sure I have the time or brainspace for it)
More video game reviews
One thing I’m unsure will stick around is the media roundups. I’m not a fan of just dumping everything I consumed in a month, but I do think there’s something to actually putting thought into what I engaged with for that month.
Part of me wants to put up hard borders around what Espresso Tonic is for, but I also like using this space to reflect on whatever I want.
Why Does This Look Different?
While I was on break, my previous site and newsletter host literally promoted a Nazi newsletter (not accused Nazis, but people who self identify and post white supremacist garbage. It’s rather upsetting), so that’s why this looks quite a bit different.
The newsletter is now hosted through Beehiiv. I’m still getting used to this site, so there will be some hiccups here and there, but I think over time it will be a much better solution. I can tweak the site at a very granular level, which rocks, but will take a bit more time to dial in.
