This was accidentally sent out early this week, sorry! I had some changes here and there to make.
If you've read my posts often you’ll probably realize that I love to track what media I’m watching, playing, and reading. I’m not entirely sure why I like to take this approach, but it’s just the way my brain works.
That being said, here’s my media consumption round-up for November 2024.
Severance

My wife and I like to watch a show together at night. Sometimes it’s just while we eat dinner or research housing. However, when we watch Severance, We’re locked in. This show is so good. I’ve never seen anything like it and it’s one of the only shows my wife watches completely undistracted.
I’m not going to say much about Severance, but here’s the premise. A mega corp developed a procedure that severs a persons memory. While at work, they don’t know anything about their outside self, and when they leave for work, they don’t remember anything about work.
I highly recommend this show.
Return of the King (book)

Reading has not been my thing lately, and I don’t like that. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m lazy or if my brain genuinely doesn’t have the capacity to read what I want right now (I could read Goodnight Moon ALL DAY).
However, I did put some time into reading Return of the King.
Every time I open this book Im glad I did. I’m about 120 pages away from finishing the epic of the War of the Ring. Maybe that’s why it’s taking me so long? I don’t want it to end and I know it’s great so, why finish it?
I’m hoping this will be done next month.
Persona 5 Royal

After getting this game day 1 in 2020, and playing it for 150 hours, I finished Persona 5 Royal.
This game is just great. You play as a Japanese high schooler who has the power to enter a cognitive world and steal corrupt adult’s desires. A pretty wild premise, but my favorite part of it is spending time with party members and friends during the day.
This version of the game is an updated and extended version of Persona 5, a game that came out in 2017, and a game I finished in 2019.
I really liked this game.

This game ruled, check out my review here.
Ongoing Games
This section is for games that I played in the month of November but have not finished.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (GBA)

This is my first time playing an action game on the GBA, and while I do like portions of this game, I’m starting to find it infuriating.
For much of the game, it hasn’t been too horrible. If a fight is giving me a hard time I just make a deck to counteract it. However, I got to a big boss that is kind of just… not fun.
I think I may have missed something in the tutorial, but the combat has not clicked with me. Not really at least. You have this deck of cards that you use to “cast” attacks but your attacks can be blocked if an enemy “casts” a card of higher value.
I ended up beating that hard boss with 1 healing card and 1 attack card. It took about 20 minutes and it was really not fun.
I might not pick this one back up.
Golden Sun: The Lost Age

It’s good It’s good It’s good.
I played the first Golden Sun earlier this year and this is much of the same thing, but… better. There’s more emphasis on discovery and exploration which can make certain puzzles or areas difficult. This is mainly because the continents on the map are not named. I’ve resorted to using an online map anytime a continent or location is named as the next place to go.
I don’t have many thoughts other than: yeah it’s good.
Tunic

This might be my favorite game of all time?
Expect a review in the future.
